Java’s Machine art installation by Yogyakarta-based artist Jompet showcases fifteen ‘phantom soldiers’ where each will operate synchronized musical instruments, videos and mechanical objects. A unique and fascinating form of sound and video orchestra. Java’s Machine installation was premiered along with a special collaboration performance with Space System. The night also marked the return of our signature nitro cocktails.
This particular work was also exhibited in the Yokohama Triennale 2008, one of the biggest art exhibitions in the world. Jompet was invited to show his work together with influential and reknown artists such as Yoko Ono, Joan Jonas, Marina Abramovich, Matthew Barney, Herman Nietsch and more. Moreover, from Yokohama, the installation was also exhibited in Biennale Cuvee in OK Art Center, Leinz, Austria; one of the most established contemporary art space in Europe.
